I would have to say that I did enjoy keeping a blog. I have only kept a blog in another class so this experience is relatively new to me. Having a place to sort, store and report information on a selected topic proves to be practical and useful. The component of other bloggers being able to comment and to provide feedback gives you the sense of the quality of information that you have been reporting on a blog.
I have learned how to post videos and images when blogging. Also, I felt that searching for information, as it pertains to my topic of social bookmarking, I retained a lot of information on the topic before I decided on my post for the week. Obviously, I also learned about a plethora of topics that were featured on other blogs. This is a very different way to learn, I feel that you learn indirectly as most of the time you just enjoy creating and commenting on blogs but in the end you are obtaining knowledge on various topics and issues.
As an educator, I now believe that blogging is a very good learning device that could be incorporated into most classes. It gives students the autonomy to find information on their own to help them understand course material better, especially if the conventional ways of teaching are not effective for them. Some areas that I will look to improve on with regards to blogging would be to make my background a little more pleaseing to the eye, I probably should have provided more videos and pictures too now that I look back on it.

3 Simple Ways to Maximize Your Social Bookmarking Experience
There are three major considerations that you must account for in order to use social bookmarking successfully:
http://corinzander.com/articles/usion-social-bookmarking-for-traffic
First and foremost, your title is important. A great article can be ruined by a bland title that doesn’t grab the reader’s attention and draw them to the content. It is an unfortunate fact that a lot of well-written content is never seen, due to the simple fact that the title was unappealing. If your title catches a persons attention, they will be drawn to continuing to see what the article has to offer. It is also vital that your article is about an interesting topic. As the writer, you must not only attract interested readers, but also keep them reading your article. The whole article’s outline should contain some valuable content that is real and effective.
Its also important that your summary is not too wordy and provides an easy read. People are busy and this will help ensure that they read through the entire piece. Make sure that the information on your site itself relates back to the headline and the summary you created. Your article must also be supported by the information on your website. That will help increase loyal readership. And to accomplish this, you have to have well-written, informative content.
For social networking to be effective, the proper strategies need to be used.
You need to begin by bookmarking your own pages. Simply visit all of the bookmarking websites that you can, and open accounts there. Due to the huge number of bookmarking sites that are available, there’s really no limit for marketing with this particular method. But it’s good to have lots of bookmarks all over the web, on various sites. If you don’t want to put your own name out there so much, ask family, friends and even co-workers to bookmark your page to drive up your ranking. It all comes back to leveraging what you’ve already got. You also want to become a valued member of the social networking community. This means socializing and bookmarking other people pages. It is common for most of these social networking sites to provide the ability to associate with other members and share your bookmarks with friends that you can add on the site. It is vital that you are seen as a quality member and take the time to bookmark, comment, and tag other people’s bookmarks. All in all, social bookmarking can prove to be an effective way to drive targeted traffic to your website, if you use the right techniques and make sure you take care of the content, which has to be informative and bookmark worthy.

A Social Bookmarking alternative to Digg, Delicious, etc. for images
Visualize.us – social bookmarking for your favorite images
Written on February 25, 2010 by Chris Miller in Site Reviews
http://blog.thesocialnetworker.com/index.php/2010/02/25/visualize-us-social-bookmarking-for-images/
I ran across Vi.sualize.us a while ago in beta but never took the time to get involved in what the tool had to offer. I found a need for it today and went back to exploring what services it could offer me. You integrate Vi.sialize.us into Firefox as an extension, or a bookmark button for other browsers. You can also paste in an image link if you want to go the very manual route. Once that portion is done, you are ready to use the service.
The idea is to bookmark and share favorite pictures you find across the web, not just blog postings and web pages as usual. Usually the images themselves are the important part of the page. Some bookmarking services off the ability to snip part of the webpage, or you could always right click and open just the image. But that leaves a nasty URL behind and limited context for the image. Vi.sualize.us adds tagging, liking, comments and sharing to the pictures you find.
They have navigation for your images, most recent and the most popular on the site. They offer tags to watch and the most used overall. RSS feeds exist for public, personal and individual picture images. So enough of the UI description, how about the experience.
Sharing an image on the site was limited, no Twitter integration, but did have Facebook, StumbleUpon, Digg and email. You can like any image on the site and keep it private or share it to your stream. The original source of the picture is always accredited right below te picture with a link to the posting it was found. This is great for the creator or owner of the images and source verification for copyright. I also noticed that they built in a filter, with the default of on for safe images. I presume unsafe means NSFW.The images on the site itself ran the entire spectrum from signs to abstract. I found the most benefit in tagging and grabbing images for use in future postings, links or other production as the copyright or Creative Commons rights would allow. I can now quickly save and tag images instead of goofy bookmarks and searches, shrinking down my time to find and share.I will run it for a while and see how often I go back. That becomes the thermometer for any new tool. If I fold it into my daily workflow, I will add the image feed to m normal social streams.

Here are the top 3 Auto Social Bookmarking Software Tools:
1. Bookmarking Demon = Bookmarking Demon has continued to evolve and grow. Now with Version 5 the list of features is long and all inclusive. The number #1 reason why Bookmarking
Demon is Number #1 is because it litterally does everything you want a Social Bookmarking Software to do. It will Create an unlimited number of Accounts with the Top Social Bookmarking sites and you can create an unlimited number of Profiles which allows you to submit the same site to different accounts over and over. It will Spider your site and then you can pick and choose what Pages to Submit as opposed to typing in each and every URL, Title, and Description. Then it will submit to all the top services, but you can also Spider and add an unlimited number of Scuttle and Scuttle Plus Social Bookmarking sites to the services you submit to. The best reason of all to buy this product is because it is now on Version 5 and continues to be the single best supported program of it’s kind on the web. A very all inclusive program, Bookmarking Demon is the #1 choice for Automated Social Bookmarking. Enough Said.
2. SocialBot = SocialBot has a lot of the same features as Bookmarking Demon, but it is simpler and does not have the auto account creation feature quite as automated as Bookmarking Demon does. It submits to 88 top tier Social Bookmarking and Scuttle Plus sites and also allows you to add as many Scuttle Sites to it as you want.
3. Social Marker = There is nothing special about Social Marker. It is an online tool which will submit any site you want to 48 of the most popular Social Bookmarking sites. The best thing about it is it is Free. It doesn’t have any advanced features, but every now and then a Free Submission on someone else’s account doesn’t hurt.

BookMarking Demon
What is BookmarkingDemon?
http://www.bookmarkingdemonreview.com/what-is-bookmarkingdemon
Below is a blog post from a blog called Bookmark Demon review defining Bookmarking Demon:
BookmarkingDemon is a simple little application that automates the process of submitting links to Social Bookmarking sites like del.icio.us, faves.com, spurl.net and many more. I know I’ve tried submitting my sites to some of these sites and it’s a big pain in the butt. Even using a free service like SocialMarker.com can still be quite tedious to use. After hearing about BookmarkingDemon I went to the homepage and watched some of the videos and I was quite impressed. Everything was automated, and you could do some cool things like randomizing your account user names and your bookmark titles to make things appear less spammy. Once this whole process is done, I could see it would bring my sites more targeted traffic (via tags), faster search engine indexing, higher search engine ranking and probably even better Page Rank.

Opinon on Social Bookmarking Buttons
Below is a commentary reagrding the question: Are Social Bookmarking Buttons Useless?
http://www.doshdosh.com/are-social-bookmarking-buttons-useless/
A poll about the use of social bookmarking buttons was set up on Dosh Dosh a week or two ago and it received 221 votes by readers and other visitors. I’ve just ended the poll and I wasn’t really surprised with the results because they cohered with my personal experiences.
I’ll be the first to say that I have never used any social bookmarking buttons on any website or blog that I’ve come across. All my bookmarks or page submissions are done via a combination of official and third party bookmarklets or tools.I guess I never developed the habit of using the bookmark icons for some reason. Before I examine the poll results, let’s do an introduction to social bookmark buttons.
What are Social bookmarking or voting buttons?
These are simply small icons or text links which allow you to easily bookmark the webpage you are reading by saving a link to it on an online bookmarking website. Some of these icons also allow you to submit the webpage to a variety of social voting websites, whereby other users of the social website can vote for it, if they find it interesting. You’ll need to first register with the various social websites before you can start using the icons you see to bookmark the article. A good place to start is through this list of the top 25 most popular social bookmarking/voting websites online.
Social Bookmarking Usage Poll Results
Here are the results for the poll:
45% of users never used them (99 votes)
37% of users use them (81 votes)
19% of users don’t know what they are (41 votes)
According to the results, 64% of voters do not use social bookmarking buttons, with 19% of them not knowing what they are at all. Out of the 37% of voters who use the buttons, there is probably a large number of them who already know how to bookmark through other means as well.
I don’t think social bookmarking or voting buttons are necessary for any website but I keep them up because they can serve as reminders for your visitors to bookmark or share the article with others. If I had to choose between text links or icons, I would probably pick text links because they seem to be more instructive and direct.

The 5 Most Popular and Effective Social Bookmarking Sites
The 5 Most Popular and Effective Social Bookmarking Sites
1. del.icio.us is a social bookmarking site that has rapidly taken off even more in popularity since being purchased by Yahoo. del.icio.us is probably the most used out of all these top picks, particularly to post interesting sites that have been found around the Web. You can also subscribe to quite a few del.icio.us tags, such as popular and reference, and all the sites tagged with these keywords in a RSS reader of choice, Bloglines.
2. Digg is social bookmarking and social networking gone a little crazy due to the fact that anyone can submit a Digg (site), and then anyone can comment on those same Diggs. The most interesting feature of Digg has to actually be the comments on the sites and stories, since the Digg community is not shy about letting folks know how they feel about a particular Digg. Primarily focussed on geeky, technology-type items.

3. Reddit is a social bookmarking Web site that works much like Furl and del.icio.us: you register a username and password, and then start submitting and sharing your bookmarks. Reddit is similar to del.icio.us in that users are encouraged to vote on the links and stories that they feel are deserving of being in the top dog spot: it’s kind of a popularity contest, so to speak.
4. Furl gives users the ability to save copies of any Web page, search within your own personal archive of Web pages, and share what you find. People use Furl to create their own personal shopping lists, real estate directories, job searches, student research papers, etc. This may just sound like a fancy way of saying bookmarks; but the thing about Furl is that you can access it from any computer, which means that your Favorites will go with you.
5. The beauty of StumbleUpon, : you are able to take advantage of a vast network of dedicated Web searchers who are finding utterly brilliant sites and sharing them with you. StumbleUpon is an incredibly addicting way to search the Web. People have found themselves up till 1:30 AM blearily clicking the Stumble! Button over and over again, because the quality of the sites are just so amazing; you just keep on coming across stuff that instantly merits a bookmark of your own.

What Can Social Bookmarking Do For Me?
Not only can you save your favorite websites and send them to your friends, but you can also look at what other people have found interesting enough to tag. Most social bookmarking sites allow you to browse through the items based on most popular, recently added, or belonging to a certain category like shopping, technology, politics, blogging, news, sports, etc.
How Can I Benefit From Social Bookmarking?
Social bookmarking and social news allow you to specifically target what you want to see. Instead of going into a search engine, typing something in, and then searching for that needle in a haystack, you can quickly narrow down the items to what you are looking for.

Intro/Basic Definition of Social Bookmarking
Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to organize, store, manage and search for bookmarks of resources online. Unlike file sharing, the resources themselves aren't shared, merely bookmarks that reference them.
In a social bookmarking system, users save links to web pages that they want to remember and/or share. These bookmarks are usually public, and can be saved privately, shared only with specified people or groups, shared only inside certain networks, or another combination of public and private domains. The allowed people can usually view these bookmarks chronologically, by category or tags, or via a search engine.
